Mirror, Mirror

One of my personal hero’s, Cara Delevingne, has confirmed her latest creative venture.  Trying to remain agonizingly patient as I count down the days until I can place an order on Amazon.

Cara Delevingne has been a hero of mine for a long time, I was drawn to her ever since she exploded onto the fashion scene, almost making the entire industry halt as everyone gazed, bordering on fighting to be the first to feature her on the cover or in their campaign.

I love her for her talent, from modeling for Dolce & Gabbana, Jason Wu and Burberry, (I have large photo of that famous closing walk for Burberry Prorsum at London Fashion Week 2012 hanging on a wall in my house), to acting in movies including, a small but important part in Pan, Paper Towns, and Suicide Squad.  I also love her for her warming personality and her inspiring story on how she battles depression, which is something I’m not unfamiliar with, her Instagram timeline scattered with little quotes and messages to lift your spirits.

The model–turned–actress–turned–author announced the arrival of her debut novel on Instagram, with a photos of her holding the manuscript against a mirror, she wrote that it’s “Another pinch me moment”.  The novel has been written with the mentoring of author Rowan Coleman, and ghostwritten by Caroline Upcher.  Cara also gives the stories premise: “Mirror, Mirror is a twisty coming-of-age story about sixteen-year-old friends Red, Leo, Naima and Rose who are all trying to figure out who they are and navigate the minefield of school and relationships”.

Anna Valentine, the publisher who won the rights to Mirror, Mirror, told London’s Evening Standard: “Cara is such an interesting person, she is a strong individual with amazing opinions and incredible insights into the issues that young people face today”… “She has an enormous following and is incredibly in touch with her followers and she wanted to write a book that dealt with issues young people face today and that was the thing that was really exciting for us”.

Later in the year Cara Delevingne will also appear in Luc Besson’s sci-fi action movie: ‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’, and would also star alongside Jaden Smith in the adaptation of the young adult romantic drama: ‘Life in a Year’, a story of two 17-year-olds: how life changes when Cara’s character develops a terminal illness, and has a year left to live, her boyfriend, played by Jaden Smith, promises to see all of life’s major milestones come about in the short time they have left together.

Cara’s novel will be released on the 5th/October/2017.
